Using video to maximize SEO marketing
Video is no longer the future – it is the here and now.
For the last few years, we’ve been telling our clients that video is the easiest way
to get indexed in the search engines and, in some cases, get to the top of Google
search. I don’t want to overstate ‘getting to the top’ because that means a lot of
things to different people and, of course, it is all keyword dependent.
An article on Forrester reaffirms what we already know from our own work in
the distribution and syndication of online video. The 2009 article talks about
using video to get on the first page of Google. Despite the fact that the video
space has become significantly more cluttered and Google has changed its
search algorithm multiple times, video search is still an extremely viable and cost
effective marketing tool.
In the initial research from Forrester, it shows that properly using video for search
gives you a more than 50X greater chance of getting on the first page of
That’s a very, very powerful piece of information. Quite frankly, the 50x may
not be accurate now but a 40x, 30x, 20x or even 10x advantage in SEO is still
incredible. While we don’t know the exact stats, we’ve experienced first-hand the
power of video search results.
Right now, I still don’t know of an easier, more efficient or cost effective way to
do search engine optimization. We call it Video Search Engine Optimization
(VSEO). You need the technical expertise or know-how to get the best results,
and that is what we do every day. We get amazing results for ourselves and our
clients through the use of VSEO. Bottom line. It still works.
